Shootin' Whitetails

Just Deer

Tue, July 30, 2013

It’s been a busy summer and it is about to get busier for me. Owning a concession business and working a full time job often leaves little time to get outside and take photographs. Now the Illinois State Fair is just around the corner which means the next two weeks will have me completely off the grid. No checking on the deer herd or photographing birds.

Last night I did get to venture out in hopes of photographing deer. As luck would have it clouds moved in late in the afternoon ruining my hopes of having decent lighting. I decided to head out anyway at least to see what was moving.

I did see lots of deer especially does and fawns. Most does had twins and I did even see one set of triplets.

Hopefully after the craziness of the fair settles down I will be able to get back into the field more. Another month and the velvet will start coming off. Then we will all start thinking about the wall hangers we will be hunting this fall.

Beautiful pic’s Jim!  That 8pt in the beans is an adult buck! The 10pt with the stickers will be a Hog in another 2 years!
