Heartland Outdoors: Conservation Corner

Marshall-Putnam Special Project

Monday, March 11

U. S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will offer funding in Marshall and Putnam Counties for the MRB-Big Bend Enhancing Water-Soil-Habitat Quality project through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).

NRCS partners with Marshall-Putnam Soil and Water Conservation District to help producers address resource concerns such as degraded water quality and soil erosion. Producers can apply for assistance through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to implement practices such as denitrifying bioreactors, grassed waterways, and water and sediment control basins. The project focus is to improve water quality in Marshall and Putnam Counties.

NRCS RCPP funding will be available only to producers with land located in Marshall and Putnam Counties, Illinois. To take advantage of this conservation funding opportunity, interested producers should submit applications by the application cutoff dates of April 19 and May 17, 2019. However, producers are welcome to submit applications at any time to the NRCS Field Office in Henry, Illinois because applications are accepted throughout the year.

To apply, eligible producers should contact the NRCS Henry Field Office at 1511 University Court, Henry, Illinois 61537. Phone: 309-364-3913 ext. 3.
