Jim Shepard’s 17-pointer

Shephard buck 2010

OK, here’s a awesome buck taken by Jim Shepard from Schuyler County on the second day of gun season last Saturday. He’s 17 points and might make Boone and Crockett as a non-typical. He’s heavy and just awesome. Congrats to Jim! Super buck and you deserved him!

But there’s a side note to this buck. My good friend, we’ll call him Dick, has a 19-year-old daughter who is quite the deer hunter. We’ll call her Jane.

Well, on opening day at about 2:30 p.m., one-quarter mile from where Jim Shepard would be hunting the following day, a doe ran up to Jane with this big boy tagging along. He came within 15 yards!

Jane shot! And dad, who was 80 yards away, heard it! He then got a text: “Dad, I missed the hog! he was tall with 5-inch stickers on the
right! I don’t know what happened, I’m pretty upset”!!!”
